Artisans

"Artisans" are crafters who profit off of their creations. Not every crafter is an artisan, of course, but almost every craft has the ability to sell what they make in one way or another to personally profit off of it -- or better yet, benefit the DW as a whole.

Artisanry is easy -- undertake a project, however big or small (according to your skill level, of course), complete it, then sell it via a GM. Artisans will receive compensation for their skill level and the quality of the product they create. In addition to that, periodically a crafter's reputation may grow due to their work, and will receive increasing fame for their work, which will in turn improve the profit on other pieces in the future.

The highest caliber of goods aren't just sold on the open market though -- they're put in the Treno Auction House, where the affluent (both corporate and private) get their most luxurious, rare, or interesting goods. This possibility makes profit margin explode... sometimes.

As mentioned, nearly every single craft has a market of some sort associated with it, whether it's computer software, hand-made woodworking, music, art, weapons, or gardening.

This is applicable to any artisan skill as well as performance skills for selling CDs and concert tickets.

An artisan's marketable works are created according to the cumulative total result of a series of crafting rolls determined by their skill level. Once the DC for that Skill and Difficulty Level are reached, the product can be sold, and the profit is given directly to the crafter. Don't worry, sellers' fees and taxes are already taken out!

Difficulty

Difficulty will be divided into five categories.

1-Simple(Auction Modifier -10)

These items are easy enough to make. You can probably make one a day without any trouble.

2-Convoluted(Auction Modifier +0)

These sorts of items take some work and effort over the course of a few days, perhaps even a week, requiring good dedication...or perhaps a production line.

3-Complex(Auction Modifier +5)

These are some of the tougher projects to finish. They will take a dedicated individual to complete. One person may need a few weeks to a month to finish...perhaps more.

4-Mass Project(Auction Modifier +10)

You'll more than likely need help to finish something like this. Hopefully you'll also have a lot of time on your hands. These are big ones, projects that require great attention to detail, thorough planning, and dedicated manpower. Something like this might take several months to complete alone.

5-Masterpiece(Auction Modifier +20)

An unparalleled piece of work, the masterpiece is the paragon of craftswork, from the Mona Lisa to the Sistine Chapel. Be prepared to dedicate a good chunk of your life ICly to something like this, at a minimum of a year.

NOTE: These DCs are cumulative and have no checkpoints; you are not required to make a certain amount of progress within a certain number of rolls.

Auction House

AUCTION HOUSE

Use the following guidelines to determine whether or not the item you just made is auction-worthy.

For every superbotch, -10.
For every botch, -5.
For every crit, +5.
For every divine, +10.

Roll 1d100+final modifier when your item is complete. The DC for an auction-quality sell item is 100.

Rank C: The item being created must be at least a Level 6 item or Tier 1 equipment(Radiant Metal/Carbon Fiber-Ceramic).
Rank B: The item being created must be at least a Level 8 item or Tier 2 equipment(Radiant Gem/Gen 2 Polymer).

Take 10 or Coasting

In lieu of daily rolling or worrying about crits/botches, a player/character may volunteer to "take 10" for a project, in which he/she will simply coast through crafting an object or completing a project at a comfortable pace until completion. This removes the need for Crafting rolls, but also prevents the work in question from being placed in the Auction House.

To "take 10" on a project, you simply tell the GMs the project you wish to undertake, accept a Difficulty Check according to the lists below, and say you wish to take 10 on it or coast. To determine how many days the character will be working on this project, estimate 50% of that character's maximum crafting roll and divide the DC by that amount.

For instance, a character undertakes a DC2500 project and has a total crafting roll of 1d160+75. The total possible crafting roll is 160+75 or 235. Half of 160 is 80, and 80+75 = 155, so divide 2500 by 155 to get 16.12, or 17 days(round up). In 17 days, the character can declare the project "done" to a passable, acceptable, and functional quality according to the Difficulty it was, but it is not exceptionally good nor bad. Just done.
__________________________________________________________________________

Note that crits give a +5% bonus to the item's value, and divines give +10%. Botches give -5% and superbotches give -10%. An item cannot go below its original value, however.

Additionally, on a botch, you make 0 progress on that project for that roll. On a superbotch, you lose progress on that project equal to your roll.
