Covert Operations

While not as flashy as "spy versus spy," some things just need to be done discretely. A little force applied here, a package brought there-- nothing too suspicious to the naked eye, and nothing that can truly be noted to be tracked back to you. This allows characters of the shadows to make ends meet by doing light work without having to get their hands dirty.

While generically named, these Operations are both massive and tiny in scope. There's never any shortage of intel to deliver, conversations to eavesdrop on, or areas to scout or recon. There's always more to be done, and even though a particular set of objectives can be completed, coming back the next week will only generate more work.

It's difficult to determine if these operations will ever see success or fruition, but there's also no shortage of money to be made in the repetition or simultaneous execution.

Rules:
  • Covert Operations are week-long affairs, You can only take up one Operation a week, and no other gil generation avenue or research projects may be done in that time (tournaments, Artisan work, etc.)
  • Accept an Operation anonymously through the UMN or other method of communication.
  • Roll to complete the different tasks for each Operation.
The roll for Covert Operations is 1s(skill level) + (Luck OR Dexterity bonus + Class feats + Improved Luck OR Improved Agility Milestones). If using luck bonus, you must use the improved luck milestones; if using dex bonus, you must use improved agility milestones. No luck points can be used throughout this process. A Divine Relationship can only be used once for the week.
  • In order to complete an Operation, all objectives must be completed within 7 days of accepting the job. If any objectives are not completed, you'll have to start over from scratch.
    • Only one objective may be attempted per day.
    • If an objective's DC is failed, the operative fails for that day. The same objective can be tried as many times as necessary, but remember the 7 day window.
    • If an objective's DC is met, the character can move onto the next one the next day.
    • If the objectives are not completed within 7 days, the Operative only receives pay for the objectives he/she completed.
    • As each different task is completed, you're awarded more gil. When the Operation is complete, you're awarded a larger lump sum and your part in the mission is complete. Good work.

Mission Execution
While out "on the job," some Agents will either be skilled or lucky enough to meet certain criteria. Secondary, tertiary, and even "secret" objectives that are found as objects of opportunity while performing the otherwise mundane task. Every little bit helps when you're out in the field, and keeping your eyes open and being quick enough to respond is key.

Just keep in mind -- the organizer of the Operation will only pay out a bonus if the entire Operation is complete. No extras for unfinished work.

For every Critical roll you make while performing Objectives during an Operation, you receive a +1* multiplier to the end cash-out. For every Divine roll, you add a +2* multiplier. At the end of your Operation, add up your multipliers; the end result affects your Operation Complete bonus.

For instance, receiving a Critical and a Divine would multiply the end Operation Bonus by 4 times (1+1+2).
