Omni-Tools and Cyberware

Omni-Tools are unique constructs that are designed as a bracer around one wrist, which emits a hard-light hologram around the user's forearm in the form of a large gauntlet. When activated, it shows its true razor-edge tech,-- combining a computer microframe, sensor analysis pack, and minifacturing fabricator. Versatile and reliable, an omni-tool can be used to analyze and adjust the functionality of most standard equipment, including weapons and armor, from a distance.

The fabrication module can rapidly assemble small three-dimensional objects from common, reusable industrial plastics, ceramics, and light alloys. This allows for field repairs and modifications to most standard items, as well as the reuse of salvaged equipment.

Omni-tools occupy 1 Inventory Slot, and do not have to be equipped to be used.

These can be crafted using Artisan: Engineering.

Cyberware

"Cyberware" refers to the digital programs that can be installed on Omni-tools and other electronic devices. The changes each program brings may be subtle or completely transformational for the Omni-tool, and can be great boons for the user or great busts for an opponent or enemy.

There are three basic kinds of Cyberware available for Omni-tools: Assist-Softs, Ability-Softs, and Combat-Softs.
______________________________________________________________________________________________

Assist-Softs
These software suits come built in with specs for use with the unit's microfabricators, as well as instructions, tutorials, and even some automation with them. Perfect for on-the-fly fixes, modifications, or in general use by an engineer-type, Assist Software can make a job fly by with data and materials at your fingertips.

Assist-Softs are sold in grades of knowledge, and their price can grow exponentially in some cases for each level of software. When a piece of Assist-Soft is integrated into an Omni-tool, the Assist-Soft provides a standard bonus to different skills and th eir uses.

The following skills can be purchased as Assist-Softs.
  • All Artisan:-type skills
  • Repair
  • Survival
  • Computer Use
  • Search
  • Speak Language
  • Decrypt Code/Language
  • First Aid
For each skill, the different software level prices are the same.
  • Standard (+2) - 1200 gil
  • Alphaware (+4) - 3600 gil
  • Betaware (+6) - 6000 gil
  • Deltaware (+8) - 8400 gil
  • Gammaware (+10) - 14175 gil
  • Etaware (+12) - 31725 gil
  • Zetaware (+14) - 40575 gil
  • Muware (+16) - 55125 gil
  • Nuware (+18) - 75375 gil
  • Omegaware (+20) - 95625 gil

Ability-Softs
These unique software suites come in as many flavors as people have imagination, bringing all new features and functions to an Omni-tool unit.

Name: Kinetic Barrier
Price: 105000 gil
Restrictions:
Description: Outfits an Omni-Tool with an array of microprojectors that can project a solid,, unidirectional barrier. The barrier can absorb up to 2500 physical or magical damage before it is shorted out. The projectors can only be repaired out of mission.

Name: Geiger Sensor
Price: 17500 gil
Restrictions:
Description: A third-generation Geiger Counter, the Geiger Sensor detects dangerous radiation by filtering out standard, harmless radiation unless it higher-than-average quantities. The Geiger Sensor will passively scan the area the wearer is in for radiation, and makes audial and visual warnings when dangerous radiation is detected.

Name: Combat Scanner I
Price: 26250 gil
Restrictions:
Description: Using a Standard Action, the user can wave the Omni-tool to where a target passes its sensors, and the Omni-tool will generate basic biological data about a target, including its HP, MP, Race, and Notes about it.

Name: Linguistic Emulation Software
Price: 157500 gil
Restrictions:
Description: An enhanced library of translation linguistics, and heuristics software allows this Omni-Tool to record, play back, and translate spoken words, as well as scan body language and gestures. In addition, scanning written languages allows it to provide text or image translation. Upon a successful Computer Use check, the unit is able to decrypt, translate, and echo another language, even if the character is unfamiliar with it. The translation will be crude, but basic points will be able to be exchanged.

Name: Mineral Scanner
Price: 105000 gil
Restrictions:
Description: Uses a comprehensive database of minerals, elements, alloys, etc. to provide information about both raw materials and finished products on the fly. Does not register magical augmentation or enchantment.

Name: Decoy Projection Suite
Price: 122500 gil
Restrictions:
Description: A series of microrecorders and projectors is installed into an Omni-Tool, allowing it to project a hard-light hologram of a target performing a series of simple actions or a single complex action. Creates a copy of the targetted character that can act as a decoy for various actions, counting as a separate target that can't actually be damaged or interact with the tangible world. The doppelganger moves enough to appear realistic, but if its 'other' makes too dramatic an action it may be obvious which is the fake.

Name: Encephalon Dive Unit
Price: 210000 gil
Restrictions: Requires "Computer Use" Assist-Soft
Description: The Encephalon unit allows an Omni-Tool user to directly interface his/her consciousness to a computerized network. When used, this unit doubles a Computer Use Assist-Soft's bonus.

Name: AEGIS Suite
Price: 122500 gil
Restrictions:
Description: One of the most powerful anti-surveillance sweepers on the civilian market, the AEGIS device performs the function of a half-dozen devices on its own. It allows for wide-area detection and jamming or scrambling of audio bugs and surveillance devices, as well as the detection and hijacking of wireless surveillance such as video cameras.

Combat-Softs
Combat software suites use the Omni-tool's onboard microfabricators to create weapons. They're perfect in a pinch, as they are virtually non-existent until created by the Omni-tool. The most common melee design is the "omni-blade," a disposable silicon-carbide weapon flash-forged by the tool's mini-fabricator. The transparent, nearly diamond-hard blade is created and suspended in a mass effect field safely away from the user's skin. Warning lights illuminate the field so the searing-hot blade only burns what it is intended to: the opponent. More technically adept soldiers frequently modify their omni-tools to maximize stopping power through electrical, kinetic, or thermal energy.

Combat-Softs can be bought in the same material grades as a normal weapon-- however, they cost double the normal price, have no augmentation slots, and are considered "Hard Light" weapons.
For example, a Star-Sapphire Grade "Omni-Blade" dagger Combat-Suite would cost 1,688,400 credits, deal *12 damage, with a roll bonus of +36, and as a "Hard Light" weapon, has a +1* modifier to Sneak Attack damages.

In addition to melee weapons, Omni-tool Combat-Soft suites can also form what's colloquially called "Tech Armor," an overlay of hard-light armor that replaces the value of the user's standard armor -- or provides armor, should a user be caught without theirs. In addition, "Omni Shields" can be created by other specialized combat suites.

These, like melee weapons, are purchased in grades similar to their standard equipment counterparts, cost double, and when used as armor, over-ride a user's Armor Soak scores (They DO NOT STACK with normal armor!).

Each Combat-Soft occupies 1 Cyberware Slot on an Omni-tool, and as "hard light" equipment, do not occupy any other inventory slots, even when in use.
