Weapon Proficiency: Polearms

A polearm is a long weapon, typically at least three meters from end to end, with a head of some kind on at least one end of it, making it different than a staff; this includes, but is not limited to, spears, tridents, pitchforks, javelins, halberds, pikes, naginatas, and glaives. These weapons are designed with multiple purposes in mind, but typically they are intended to strike an enemy at range or to engage a creature larger than the wielder.

Their size makes the polearm very useful for fighting against mounted enemies, large creatures, flying creatures, or swimming creatures, when it's difficult for a wielder to get within arm's reach of a target. The different heads of polearms also allow them to better pierce through tough hides or body armor.
