Alchemy

One of science's greatest achievements in the emulation and enhancement of magic is the practice of Alchemy. While most widely known from the source material of Full Metal Alchemist, Alchemy comes in many different types, including from the Atelier Iris series. However, these Alchemic styles share many similar traits that can be expressed in these Advanced Skills.

Alchemy is a very potent form of magic, dealing with the physical and chemical makeup of all things, even the fabric of space and time. With those power comes restriction though, as in most circles there are many types of forbidden alchemy...

Alchemic Recognition
Cost: 10 SP
Required Skill Level: 1
Untrained: No.
Type: Action
Effect: Gives the ability to read and comprehend alchemical formulae and symbols over regular writing, and allows the reader to interpret another persons writing.

Alchemical Defense
Cost: 10 SP
Required Skill Level: 1
Untrained: No.
Type: Action
Effect: Enables you to defend against magic by adding your skill bonus to your will roll.

Reactive Alchemy
Cost: 15 SP
Required Skill Level: 2
Untrained: No.
Type: Action
Effect: A quick witted alchemist may use their alchemy defensively to protect themselves from physical attack. To use alchemy defensively, roll (reaction + alchemy)/2.

Alchemic Weapons
Cost: 30 SP
Required Skill Level: 3
Untrained: No.
Type: Ability
Effect: Allows you to create an alchemical weapon. This weapon is considered a 'spirit weapon' with a modifier no greater than your alchemy level. This costs MP equal to...

Due to the limited capabilities of the weapon, a knowledge in its use (weapons proficiency) is sufficient to pass as the knowledge in this case. Alchemic weapons have no bonuses and may only be augmented with poison.

Alchemic Crafting
Cost: 60 SP
Required Skill Level: 4
Untrained: No.
Type: Bonus
Effect: Allows you to add 1/4th of your alchemy bonus to any artisan roll you already possess to produce a firm finished product.

Combat Alchemy
Cost: 160 SP
Required Skill Level: 7
Untrained: No.
Type: Action
Effect: Allows a user to know alchemy to a degree where it can be used to produce spell like effects. This allows for alchemy attack abilities to be created.

Dimensional Alchemy
Cost: 200 SP
Required Skill Level: 8
Untrained: No.
Type: Ability
Effect: Allows your spells to create and manipulate universal equations. This gives the user several abilities, the key one being the ability to open dimensional and planar rifts. Also, any dimensional alchemy attacks are considered unsoakable (at a cost of *10 MP)

Advanced Reactive Alchemy
Cost: 275 SP
Required Skill Level: 9, Reactive Alchemy
Untrained: No.
Type; Action
Effect: Allows the use of alchemy as a physical defense (as opposed to dodging) with full alchemy bonus.

Destructive Alchemy
Cost: 400 SP
Required Skill Level: 10
Untrained: No.
Type: Ability
Effect: Allows a user to intentionally disrupt the alchemy at the destructive stage, creating the effect of destroying an object. A destroyed object can not be recovered or recreated by any means short of time travel.
