Assault Weapons

Assault weapons, far better known by their more informal moniker of flame- or chemical throwers, are large, multi-piece weapons that generally consist of a worn portion and a held portion. The worn portion is often a backpack or a canister tank of some sort, while the held portion is a simple projector or a full-sized rifle-like weapon that can produce the ammunition forward in an arc or a spray.

Assault weapons are generally few and far between due to the hazards of their use to the user and his/her allies; however, more and more nonlethal and advanced models of assault weapons are being developed across the galaxy, improving their effectiveness and safety. These developments have also created a wide variety of different munitions to be loaded into assault weapons, ranging from the standby of flames to nonlethal energy bursts, to even high-pressure water or liquid nitrogen.

Assault weapons are considered 12-slot weapons and are able to inflict Light "Suppressing Fire" effect when used. Assault weapons, unlike other heavy weapons, do not need to be reloaded when they are used, due to their near constant supply of ammunition. Despite having multiple types of ammunition available, assault weapons can not readily exchange ammunition. Specific weapons use specific types of ammunition, and will dangerously malfunction if other munitions are attempted to be used with it.

Assault Weapons inflict splash damage, and by nature can target more than one victim without having to use suppressing fire.

Assault weapons can be used by the following skill: Weapon Proficiency: Heavy Weapons.

Family: Suppressing Fire
Description: The target takes attack damage depending on the action taken
Affects: Biological, Robots
Mild: [Light] Anyone who melee attacks during the round of suppression must pass Reaction vs the initial attack roll or be hit. (it is ASSUMED that if you are not melee attacking, you had the good sense to find cover. Do not abuse this assumption.)
