Melee - Modern - Energy Blades

Pro's: Energy blades are more powerful than conventional swords, and ignore endurance. The weapons are also inconspicuous and occupy only 1 inventory slot.

Con's: A critical failure with an energy blade almost always results in grave bodily harm, and can easily be fatal (Botch roll is 1d20, not 1d100). A dropped light saber can decapitate its wielder easily.

Notes about different kinds of energy blades -

Photon Blades - Photon blades are specifically designed for starting characters in DW who have energy swords. Photon blades offer no benefits over a metal sword, other than being of energy and occupying one slot.

Plasma Weapons - Are as a rule stronger than light weapons however the amount of energy can also make the weapon unstable, making it difficult to wield. Plasma weapons are also incapable of stopping projectile shots, as the blade is immaterial.

Antimatter - Devastatingly deadly and the closest to magic a future weapon will likely get. Antimatter weapons are ridiculously powerful, and will penetrate any armor, or wall, and also carries a high bonus to hit. The curse however, is that antimatter weapons are unstable and highly prone to failure. Any time the blade is activated, a 1d5 is rolled. 3-5 means the weapon activates normally, a 2 means the weapon fails to activate, and a 1 is an antimatter explosion of catastrophic proportions.
