History:
Alto was born and raised on Macross Frontier, which was already well into it’s long distance journey for a new home far away from Earth. The Saotome family was a well known for it’s traditional Japanese Kabuki Theater performances, pressured by his father and inheriting the under appreciated –beauty- of his mother he was given the nickname of Hime, and often graced the stage with this powerfully strong female roles. His mother passed away due to an illness when, he was a very young boy, and he always remembered how she looking up toward the sky longingly in a dream like state so he too wanted to fly in the sky and be free. In his desire to learn to fly and be free he defied his fathers wishes, and left the home of his family in exile to pursue the education of learning to be a Pilot. While attending the academy on Frontier for Three years he’s made friends with Micheal and Luca, joining their airial stunt acrobatics club only to perform in his third year at the debut concert of Sheryl Nome.

It became clear however while the concert was in progress the true enemy of Macross Frontier, a space alien force known as the Vajara, who are capable of feats no living organism had been known to perform. Upon his heroic efforts to save the innocent, soon to be Rising star Ranka Lee he is drafted by her older brother Ozma to join the SMS special defense force of Macross Frontier. Enduring hard training and exercises he is eventually welcomed onto the squad and is designated SKULL-4 taking place of the lost pilot during the first Vajara attack. The battle has become a seemingly never ending battle between the Human/Zentradi’s of Macross Frontier and the unknown but brutal race Vajara.

He is the pilot of a test engineered Valkyrie (Variable) Fighter – 25 Messiah, not in practice by the UN-Spacey military. The SMS engage in teasting many weapons and systems the Military deem unworthy or unsafe. SMS is also funded by Richard Brilla , who has a long standing history as one of the first Zentradi to encounter the human microns and to experience the proto-culture shock of Lynn Minmay.

Unknown to him are the attractions and affections of Ranka and Sheryl, though they try to come off quite clearly to him how they feel, it is never spoken in public. He continues to act as any reckless hero, trying to save as many as he can as the death of the SMS Pilot is scarred into his memory of how precious life in fact is. But above all else he longs to fly in a never ending sky to spread his wings and feel unburdened and unpressured by society to conform to ideals and blood, but rather to follow one’s own dream.

Notable Accomplishments: Known as Princess (Hime) or portraying a female character in Kabuki Theatre, Accomplished Pilot in the SMS brigade for Macross Frontier, and saved Ranka Lee and Sheryl Nome a fair amount of times.
